Hyderabad: A high-level meeting was recently held at the Telangana State Global Startup Centre (TGCCC) to improve traffic management and public safety during bad weather. The meeting was led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand and MAUD Principal Secretary Dana Kishore also played key roles. Officials from GHMC, Hydra, HMDA, and the Rachakonda and Cyberabad police departments were present.
The main focus of the meeting was to improve coordination among different agencies to respond quickly during heavy rains, including flash floods. The participants emphasized the need for a proactive approach to ensure public safety and better traffic management during such times.
Several important topics were discussed, including setting up proper traffic diversions, quickly sharing weather forecasts, improving road signage, and making engineering changes to prevent waterlogging. Officials shared their current efforts to reduce traffic congestion and discussed both short-term and long-term plans.
One major outcome of the meeting was the decision to hold a joint workshop. This workshop will help form a high-level committee made up of traffic commissioners, GHMC officials, and other departments. They will work with IT companies to monitor water levels, use technology to manage the situation better, and create a shared communication platform for everyone involved.
Key attendees of the meeting included Vikram Singh Mann, Additional CP (Law & Order); Amrapali Kata, GHMC Commissioner; Sri Sarfaraz Ahmed, IAS Commissioner, HMDA; A.V. Ranganath, IPS Commissioner of Hydra; P. Vishwa Prasad, IPS Additional CP of Traffic; G. Sudheer Babu, CP of Rachakonda; and Avinash Mohanty, CP of Cyberabad, among others.
This joint effort highlights the Telangana government’s dedication to ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow during difficult weather conditions.
