The Telangana Irrigation Day was celebrated in Suryapet district on Wednesday. Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that the SRSP showed that the irrigation sector was neglected during the United Andhra regime.
In Nizamabad, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha praised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his work on canals, check dams, and irrigation projects. She said that he had made a huge difference with the Mission Kakatiya and Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
The Mission Kakatiya programme has helped revive abandoned water bodies and ponds in rural Telangana. This has provided irrigation facilities and helped address drinking water issues in villages.
A group of nature lovers from Hyderabad has been working to document banyan trees along the Chevella road. Their initiative has grown to include 20 volunteers from different generations.
