Thousands of vehicles heading back to Hyderabad after the Sankranti festivities caused a lot of traffic on the Hyderabad and Vijayawada Highway. To handle the situation, authorities have taken proactive steps. At the Panthangitoll plaza in Choutuppal mandal, they have opened 10 toll booths exclusively for vehicles going to Hyderabad. Similarly, eight booths at the Korlapahadtoll booth have been made operational. The Ghatkesar toll plaza in Suryapet has also experienced heavy traffic, mainly because of vehicles coming from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad. Out of the 12 booths at the Ghatkesartoll plaza, six have been opened to facilitate smoother traffic flow towards Hyderabad. In response to the increasing traffic, the Rachakonda Police have implemented special measures to control it. They have placed barricades strategically at crossings without underpasses to streamline vehicle movement.
