Hyderabad, July 10 (Namaste Telangana): In a move to address the issues faced by fishermen, the Fisheries Department has introduced two new facilities. As part of the National Fishermen Day celebrations, Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Fisheries Federation Chairman Pittala Ravindra inaugurated the ‘Mee-Seva’ app on Monday at Haritha Plaza in Begumpet.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Talasani said that the government of Telangana has taken measures to eradicate the middlemen’s commission on fish sales and ensure full rights for fishermen. He also mentioned that Telangana is gradually becoming a hub for fish exports to states and countries in the future. The government has provided free training in various types of fishing cuisine to encourage women fishermen. Through a special drive, 45 individuals have been given membership in the Fishery Society. It was also announced that subsidies worth Rs. 1,000 crores and 150 vehicles worth Rs. 10 lakhs each have been provided to fishermen.

With the introduction of these facilities, fishermen in Telangana can now avail themselves of the ‘Mee-Seva’ app to report any issues they face in the fishing industry.
