Union Minister G Kishan Reddy stated that the Modi government is working towards empowering the adivasis. The government has allocated over Rs 1.17 lakh crore for tribal welfare and is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Adivasis Welfare Programme. Despite 70 years of independence, the lives of tribals have not improved. The government has recognized 75 tribal sects.
Reddy announced that the PM’s adivasi development welfare programme will be launched on Monday. The government is focusing on 11 aspects of tribal development and has identified 75 tribes in 18 states. They plan to provide land titles, construct tribal hostels and hospitals, and provide basic facilities such as electricity. They are also providing Aadhaar cards, Ayushman Bharat health cards, caste certificates, and ration cards to adivasis.
Reddy assured the establishment of Eklavya Model residential schools for three lakh adivasi students and mentioned the allocation of Central Tribal University to Telangana. The government is identifying the most backward tribal areas in Telangana for development and promoting tribal tourism. The PM will engage with tribals from 18 states through a virtual interaction on Monday.
