    Grand Brahmotsavam Celebrations of Tikka Veereswara Swamy in Ija

    The annual Brahmotsavam festival of Tikka Veereswara Swamy was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm in Ija town. Thousands of devotees from different places gathered to take part in the grand procession of the deity. The utsava murti (festival idol) was placed on a beautifully decorated bullock cart, adorned with mango leaves and coconut fronds, and taken through the main streets of the town.

    The procession was a vibrant event, featuring traditional dance performances, musical bands, and devotional bhajans. The streets echoed with chants of Lord Shiva’s name as devotees participated with deep devotion. Firecrackers were lit, and children also performed aarti and Nandi Kola Seva, a traditional offering to the deity.

    Traditional Procession from Founder’s Home to the Temple

    Following a long-standing tradition, the temple’s founding family, led by Pagunta Lakshmi Reddy, initiated the grand procession from their home. The deity was placed on a bullock cart and taken on a route that passed through the Hanuman Temple and the old bus stand before reaching the Tikka Veereswara Swamy Temple.

    Upon arrival at the temple, priests conducted the Kalasha Sthapana ritual, marking the official beginning of Brahmotsavam celebrations. As part of sacred customs, soil from a holy anthill (Puttamannu) was brought, and a canopy was set up using mango leaves and coconut fronds. Special pujas and prayers were performed in honor of the deity.

    Evening Procession & Annadanam for Devotees

    In the evening, another grand procession took place, with Tikka Veereswara Swamy being carried through the streets on a ceremonial platform. The entire town of Ija was filled with devotion, as people lined up to witness the divine event. Devotees were also served Annadanam, a free meal distribution, as part of the celebrations.

    Cultural Performances by Doll Artists & Students

    A major highlight of the event was the mesmerizing performances by doll artists and students. Their traditional dances and devotional songs captivated the audience, adding a cultural charm to the festival. Devotees, deeply engaged in the celebrations, continued to chant Lord Shiva’s name with great devotion.

    The grand Brahmotsavam festival of Tikka Veereswara Swamy turned Ija town into a center of spiritual and cultural festivities, leaving devotees filled with joy and reinforcing the rich traditions of the temple.
