The Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) detectives, along with the Golconda Police, have arrested three people involved in selling ganja. They have seized 23.4 kgs of ganja and impounded a vehicle. They have also confiscated Rs 40.3 lakhs in sale proceeds and identified other assets worth Rs 4 crore.

The arrested individuals are Kalapathi Gowtham Singh (21), K Nithubai (45), and Madhu Bai (60), all residents of Serilingampally. They were found with ganja. A 16-year-old minor and six other suspects are still at large. The investigators have also found immovable assets worth Rs 2 crores, which were likely acquired from ganja sales. They have frozen 16 bank accounts with cash deposits totaling Rs 1.53 crores.

According to law enforcement officials, the arrested individuals have been selling ganja in Hyderabad and Cyberabad for several years. They buy ganja in bulk from sources in Dhoolpet for Rs 8,000 per kilogram. Then they divide it into sachets of 5 grams each and sell them for Rs 250 each. This allows them to make a profit of Rs 50,000 from each kilogram of ganja.

One of the accused, Nithubai, had been previously arrested under the PD Act in Serilingampally in 2021. After her release from Women’s Jail, Chanchalguda in October 2022, she continued her involvement in the ganja trade. The money she earned from these activities allowed her to buy expensive homes and other assets.
