Robbers stole Rs 17 lakhs from an SBI ATM in Deshapatrunipalem, Parawada. The incident happened between 2 and 3:30 a.m. on the Gajuwaka-Elamanchili road.
According to Parawada Inspector Balasurya Rao, the robbers arrived in a car at midnight. They disabled the CCTV cameras by cutting the wires and used gas cutters to break into the ATM and steal the cash. To avoid being caught, they also targeted another nearby ATM, destroying six CCTV cameras with gas cutters.
Parawada DSP K.V. Satyanarayana confirmed the theft details after inspecting the scene. Local residents reported seeing two people carrying bags leaving the ATM and driving away in a car early on Wednesday.
A case has been filed, and an investigation is ongoing after a complaint was filed by Palakurthi Srinivas Apparao, a representative of the ATM management company. The police are following leads to catch the thieves.
