A big announcement for teacher recruitment in the state is expected to come out either tomorrow or Friday. The District Selection Committee (DSC) is planning to conduct the exam online for ten days in the 3rd week of May. The exam schedule is already set, and officials are working on software to handle more applications than before. The education department is using technology to manage everything from question papers to results.
The Education Department has proposed a total of 11,062 teacher posts and got the green light from the Finance Department for the notification. The release was delayed slightly due to final software adjustments. This year’s notification includes more posts compared to last year, so the old notification had to be canceled. There will be positions for Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) and uncertainty remains for School Assistant (SA) vacancies due to legal issues about promotions.
Around 6,500 SGT positions are expected to be filled directly, while 1,500 to 2,000 SA posts might be filled through the upcoming DSC recruitment. The advertisement will cover various roles like language scholars and Physical Education Teachers (PETs). Last year, there were 1,77,502 applications for the DSC, and about 4 lakh individuals are already eligible through the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Officials anticipate a rise in applications this year due to the increased number of available posts.
