    World Soil Day Celebrated at Sharada Degree and Junior College

    On the occasion of World Soil Day, Sharada Degree and Junior College in Samshergunj hosted special programmes focusing on the theme, “Caring for soils: measure, monitor, manage.” These events were organized by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) on Thursday.

    The TGPCB aimed to inspire students to take an active role in protecting the environment and adopting sustainable practices for soil management. To engage the younger generation, the board conducted a quiz competition and a seminar. These activities covered topics like global pollution, waste management, and effective methods for safeguarding soil from degradation, erosion, and contamination.

    Project Officer B. Nageswara Rao, from the TGPCB’s environment education wing, addressed the students during the event. He highlighted the critical importance of conserving soil, the risks posed by land degradation, and the pivotal role soil plays in maintaining environmental health. He also discussed strategies to minimize the harmful effects of urbanization on soil quality.
