Hyderabad: The Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TFDC) has successfully organized its flagship event, “The Evening, Night, and Morning Nature Walk,” along with a photography competition. The event took place at the scenic Forest Trek Park in Chilkur on October 5 and 6.

In partnership with WWF India, Wild Telangana, and VWolfs Foundation, TFDC also held a treasure hunt and cycling event at the Pala Pitta Cycling Park. These activities were part of the ongoing Wildlife Week and Palapitta Festival celebrations, which left participants excited and eager for more.

The Nature Walk gave attendees a chance to explore the rich biodiversity of the Deccan region. As they walked through the park, participants learned about the importance of wildlife conservation, the need for coexistence with nature, and the preservation of natural heritage. They enjoyed being surrounded by native plants and small hills.

During the walk, participants identified around 45 bird species and observed special moths, including the Tussar Silk Moth. They also learned about different snake species such as the Checkered Keelback, Olive Keelback, and Dumeril’s Black-headed Snake. Additionally, the group encountered various frog species like the Ornate Narrow Mouthed Frog, Burrowing Frog, and Indian Tree Frog.

Apart from the walks, TFDC has been running snake awareness programs at the Botanical Gardens. These sessions have been very popular, teaching visitors how to identify snakes, avoid them, and handle snake bites. Experts from Friends of Snakes also helped clear up common myths and misconceptions about snakes.

The overwhelming response from the community shows their dedication to wildlife conservation and living in harmony with nature. Executive Director of Eco-Tourism, Ranjith Nayak, said TFDC is committed to offering more experiences that help people connect with the natural world.
