The Navigation Training School (NTS) in Secunderabad is celebrating its 75th anniversary on March 1. The school, also known as ‘TERNS,’ is one of the oldest training establishments in the Indian Air Force (IAF). It has a rich history filled with stories of courage, dedication, and professionalism that represent the values of the IAF.

Established in 1946 at Royal Indian Air Force Station (RIAF) Tambaram, the NTS was initially focused on ground subjects without any flying element. After independence, it moved to No.2 Air Force Academy in Jodhpur and became the ‘Air Navigation Squadron.’ Over the years, the school evolved its training methods to align with the modern requirements of the IAF, eventually relocating to its current location at AFS Begumpet in 1967.

To commemorate its 75 years of service, the NTS will host a seminar and air display featuring the Akashganga para diving team and air warrior drill team on March 2. The event will also include a special cover release by Air Marshal R Radhish, AOC-in-chief training command, to honor the veterans and senior officers associated with the unit. Serving and retired alumni of the institution are expected to attend the celebrations.
