A dispute has arisen between the owners of Sirpur Paper Mill (SPM) and the Kagaznagar Lorry Associations in Komaram Bhim district. The lorry association is asking for higher rental prices for their trucks, in line with the increasing costs of diesel and petrol. They also have other demands, but the talks held on Friday night to resolve these issues were unsuccessful.
As a result, the Lorry Association has stopped the loading and unloading of paper products at the mill. This is a big issue since the mill produces about 300 tonnes of paper daily, which is usually sold to other states. The halt in operations could seriously affect the mill’s production and sales.
Workers and local residents are urging the authorities, political leaders, and the mill’s management to come together and discuss the price increase. They are hoping for a quick solution to prevent further disruptions in the mill’s production.
Kagaznagar Lorry Owners Welfare Association President, Kishore Babu, has stated that the strike will continue until their demands are met. However, the mill’s management has made it clear that they do not plan to raise the prices.
On Saturday, district officials met with the Lorry Association representatives at the local sub-collector’s office to try to find a solution. Additionally, police have been deployed around the mill and the lorry association to prevent any clashes.
