Tension arose in Saroornagar when shopkeepers opposed the eviction of the HUDA Commercial Complex. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) had ordered the eviction on Tuesday.

The HMDA issued the evacuation order on Monday, stating that the building was in poor condition. When officials arrived on Tuesday to carry out the evacuation, shopkeepers resisted, arguing that the matter was still in court.

Officials explained that the Saroornagar Commercial Complex consists of 32 shops. These shops were built by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in 1981 and were leased to different individuals. However, the leases expired in 2008.

Currently, the building is in a deteriorated state with weak structural integrity. Officials warned that it could collapse at any time, posing a serious risk to the shopkeepers and others nearby.
