Residents in Hyderabad have been suffering from extreme heat for the past 10 days. However, the Indian Meteorological Department has announced that the current heatwave will end next week. The heatwave alert will be in place until May 6, but changes in the weather are expected after that.
From May 7 onwards, there is a chance of thunderstorms and light showers in Hyderabad. This news is a relief for people dealing with temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts that temperatures will drop below 40 degrees once the rain arrives.
For now, maximum temperatures in Hyderabad will be between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius. Some districts like Narayanapet, Vanaparthi, Jogulamba Gadwal, and Nalgonda may see temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, the city experienced high temperatures with readings reaching 44.1 degrees Celsius in Quthbullapur, 44 degrees Celsius in Nacharam, and Mushirabad. The heatwave has also intensified in other Telangana districts, with places like Hajipur in Mancharya recording a temperature of 46.6 degrees Celsius.
Veenawanka in Karimnagar, Ibrahimpet in Nalgonda, and Mamillagudem in Suryapet also saw temperatures of 46.5 degrees Celsius. Despite the scorching heat, there is hope for cooler days ahead as rain is expected after May 7.
