The Telangana government has announced a special Assembly session scheduled for February 7, 2025. This session will focus on discussing the results of a recently conducted caste census.
Before the Assembly meeting, the final report of the caste census will be submitted to the Cabinet Sub-Committee on February 2, 2025, for its review. The Sub-Committee will then forward the report to the Cabinet. A Cabinet meeting is planned for February 5, 2025, to approve the findings. After the Cabinet’s approval, the report will be presented and discussed in the Assembly on February 7.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reportedly spoke with the Governor during the Republic Day “At Home” event on January 26, discussing plans for the special session. Following their conversation, the Governor granted approval for the session to take place.
In addition to the caste census, the Cabinet will also address the issue of BC (Backward Class) reservations for local body elections during their February 5 meeting. It is expected that a 42% reservation for BCs will be approved ahead of the elections.
