The Telangana School Education Department has introduced new security features for the SSC Public Examinations, which will begin on March 21. These measures aim to prevent question paper leaks and ensure a fair examination process.

This year, Class X exam question papers will have QR (Quick Response) codes and unique security numbers printed on every page. These features will help officials track and identify the source of any leaks if a question paper is copied or shared without permission.

Authorities explained that if someone takes a photo of a question paper and shares it on social media platforms like WhatsApp, they will be able to trace the origin, including the specific examination center. A similar security system was used earlier by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) for intermediate exams.

Speaking about the new security features, Director of Government Examinations A. Krishna Rao stated that QR codes and unique security numbers will make it easier to detect and trace any incidents of question paper leaks.

The decision to introduce these measures comes after multiple question paper leaks were reported during the 2023 SSC exams. In two separate incidents, invigilators and examination center officials were suspended for their involvement. In one case, an invigilator allegedly took a photo of the first language (Telugu) paper and shared it on WhatsApp just minutes after the exam started. The next day, the second language (Hindi) paper was leaked in the same way.

To further improve security, the department has also installed CCTV cameras at all exam centers, with special focus on the chief superintendent’s (CS) room. Center heads have been strictly instructed not to open question paper bundles before 9:15 a.m., ensuring proper handling before the exam begins at 9:30 a.m.

Authorities believe these steps will increase transparency and prevent any attempts to compromise the integrity of the exams.
