The Stree Nidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Ltd has recently announced that it will be extending Rs.2,710 crore to women Self-Help Groups in the State during the new financial year. This decision was made during the federation’s 10th general body meeting. The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister, E Dayakar Rao, stated that the Telangana Stree Nidhi has become a role model for other states. He also mentioned that the Rajasthan government is looking to emulate the concept after being impressed with the Stree Nidhi services and operations.
Stree Nidhi has been functioning efficiently for the past 12 years. In the previous financial year, 5.3 lakh members from 1.59 lakh SHGs received loans for various projects. At the general body meeting, it was decided to extend the Mandala Samakhya’s term to three years from the existing one year. The appeal to extend Rs. 5 lakh insurance cover for SHG members in case of death is currently under examination.
Finally, the meeting also presented awards to the best-performing officials and employees. Overall, Stree Nidhi has been making significant strides in empowering women through financial assistance and support.
