Telangana is working hard to become a leader in artificial intelligence (AI). The state made significant steps during the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAIS) that began in Hyderabad on Thursday. The state government signed 21 agreements with various educational institutions, tech companies, and startups. These agreements are part of Telangana’s ‘AI-based Telangana’ plan.
The agreements focus on seven key areas: computer infrastructure, special AI centres, skill development, startup support, generative AI, research, and data work. For example, two agreements are aimed at improving AI computing capabilities in the state. Yetta, a tech company, plans to build a new AI data centre in Hyderabad equipped with advanced GPU-based technology.
The government is also teaming up with PATH and Nazara Technologies to create a Center of Excellence. This centre will focus on emerging AI fields and will help in areas like public health, e-sports, mobile gaming, interactive media, and digital content.
In addition, companies like Nextwave, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft will help train 2.5 lakh students and professionals in AI skills. This training aims to boost the state’s AI talent pool. Meta will also contribute by improving government services using its AI technologies, including the Llama 3.1 model.
Furthermore, Telangana has entered into a three-year partnership with Nvidia Corporation to provide AI training to 5,000 students from 200 colleges. The state also signed an agreement with the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) to support AI research focused on development.
These agreements represent a major step forward in making Telangana a leading hub for AI, with a strong emphasis on technology, innovation, and education.
