Telangana State has emerged as the leading paddy producing state in India, according to Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar. Telangana has procured approximately 672 lakhs metric tonnes of paddy from farmers since the formation of the state. The minister made the announcement during a meeting with additional collectors of all districts, senior officials of the civil supplies department and Food Corporation of India (FCI) to discuss an action plan for the procurement of paddy for the upcoming Yasangi season.

During the meeting, the minister instructed officials to prepare an action plan that includes setting up procurement centers, geo-tagging, transportation, coordination with millers, arrangements for required gunny bags, paddy cleaners, moisture machines and tarpaulins to ensure a smooth process of paddy procurement. With Telangana leading the way in paddy production, it is important to ensure efficient procurement processes to support the state’s farmers and maintain its position as a top producer of paddy in India.
