Telangana representatives recently met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her residence in Delhi to discuss important financial issues concerning the state. During the meeting, they urged the central government to release pending funds and address key financial concerns affecting Telangana’s development.
One of the main requests was the restructuring of debt for various corporations and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). The delegation asked for guidelines to be issued to financial institutions to help restructure loans, which would ease the financial burden on Telangana.
The representatives also brought up the issue of pending dues, amounting to ₹4,08,48,54,461. They requested that these funds be released quickly, as they are crucial for the state’s financial stability.
Another key demand was the release of a special assistance fund for Telangana’s backward districts. According to Section 94(2) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014, Telangana is entitled to these funds. The delegation urged the central government to release them without further delay.
The leaders also pointed out allocation errors in central government scheme funds during the 2014-15 financial year. They requested a correction to ensure Telangana receives its rightful share.
Additionally, the delegation demanded the reimbursement of ₹208.24 crore under Section 56(2) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. They stressed the importance of settling these financial issues to support the state’s development.
The meeting also addressed the issue of excess liability. The leaders discussed the financial burden transferred to Telangana Power Finance Corporation from Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation and urged the central government to resolve this matter.
Another concern was the transfer of funds as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014. Telangana leaders sought clarity on pending fund transfers and requested immediate action.
Finally, the delegation asked for a resolution of outstanding dues between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana power utilities. They emphasized the need to settle these payments to ensure smooth financial operations between the two states.
The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament Dr. Mallu Ravi, Balram Naik, Chamal Kiran Kumar Reddy, and other leaders. They highlighted that resolving these financial issues is crucial for Telangana’s growth and requested the Finance Minister’s support in addressing these matters promptly.
