The Telangana High Court has canceled the appointment of MLCs under the state governor’s quota, including Kodandaram and Amir Ali Khan. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been instructed to review the appointments of Dasoju Shravan and Satyanarayana from the previous government.
According to the High Court, the Governor must follow the decisions of the Council of Ministers and any new MLC appointments should be approved by the cabinet. It was also stated that the Governor cannot overturn decisions made by the cabinet under Article 171.
The court’s ruling has sparked concerns about the MLC appointment process in Telangana and has prompted a reassessment of the selection criteria. Kodandaram and Amir Ali Khan, whose appointments were rejected, will no longer be able to serve in their respective positions.
