Hyderabad: The Telangana government’s recent decision about land linked to Hyderabad Central University (HCU) has caused a lot of controversy. In response, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Professor Haragopal, held a special meeting with representatives from public organizations.
After the meeting, Minister Sridhar Babu spoke to the media. He said that some people were spreading false information and confusion about the issue. He blamed the BJP and BRS parties for trying to mislead the public. He explained that about 400 acres of land in Gachibowli had been in a legal dispute for many years. He also made it clear that this land was not being taken from HCU students, staff, or faculty.
Sridhar Babu added that some individuals and groups were giving the public the wrong idea about the land issue. He said that the government had already discussed the matter with HCU’s vice-chancellor and registrar. According to him, the university did not have proper documents for the land, which had caused the legal problems over the years.
The minister said that the 400 acres in question were government property. He mentioned that an error was made regarding this land back in 2003. He also said that the government was following the vision of former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who believed public land should be protected and used for the benefit of the people.
Sridhar Babu accused the BJP and BRS of running a false campaign to stir up tensions. He reminded everyone that HCU is managed by the central government. Since the Congress party came into power, he said they have taken steps to resolve land disputes more quickly.
Finally, the minister promised that the government is committed to protecting the environment, including natural rock formations and water bodies. He said all decisions about public land would be made carefully and legally, with the goal of serving the public good.
