Hyderabad:
Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the government will form a sub-committee to address issues related to ration cards. The aim is to identify eligible beneficiaries more effectively.
The Minister shared this information during a discussion on grant demands held on Tuesday. He mentioned that the upcoming Cabinet meeting, scheduled for August 1, will finalize the criteria for identifying eligible families and officially establish the sub-committee.
To determine who qualifies for ration cards, the government will consider factors such as income limits and land holdings, among other key criteria. Eligible families will receive ration cards and also “sanna biyyam” (super fine rice). According to the Minister, 50 percent of the coarse grains supplied under the Public Distribution System (PDS) are being misused and not serving their intended purpose. Therefore, the government plans to provide super fine rice to those who qualify.
