In a bid to invigorate the nightlife and business landscape of Hyderabad, the Telangana government is set to unleash a series of initiatives aimed at promoting the night economy. As per a report from TOI, commercial establishments and eateries will soon be permitted to operate round the clock, heralding a new era of vibrant nocturnal activity in the city.

The focal point of this endeavor lies in specific zones like HiTec City and bustling business hubs, where the government intends to foster a thriving nocturnal economy. However, it’s worth noting that bars and pubs will not be granted permits for extended operating hours beyond the existing regulations.

Telangana’s Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, has issued directives to officials to formulate a comprehensive plan geared towards bolstering the night economy, coupled with enhancements in transportation infrastructure to facilitate seamless access during late hours.

This ambitious proposal holds promise for not just enhancing the city’s nightlife and business prospects but also for generating a surge in employment opportunities across Hyderabad. Moreover, it is anticipated to act as a catalyst for tourism, drawing visitors to iconic landmarks such as Charminar and Golconda.

Nevertheless, the proposal has encountered some resistance from the police department, which has raised concerns regarding potential escalations in law and order issues, crime rates, and antisocial behavior.

This move follows the Telangana government’s decision last year to permit shops and establishments across the state to operate 24/7. Despite high expectations for a significant boost to Hyderabad’s nightlife and business sectors, only a handful of establishments expressed interest.

Telangana joins the ranks of states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, which have previously introduced similar relaxations to promote 24/7 operations. While the true impact of this initiative on revitalizing nightlife and business in Hyderabad remains to be seen, it underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and bustling urban environment.
