The Telangana government has announced a plan to help poor people living in difficult conditions along the Musi River. They will be relocated to double bedroom houses, and 10,000 such houses have been set aside for this purpose. This will also help free the river from illegal settlements. Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao met with MLAs to discuss this issue.
MLAs from Hyderabad requested the government’s assistance in addressing the challenges and irregularities along the Musi River. They want to remove unauthorized settlements and provide state-built homes to deserving people. This is part of a larger plan to develop the Musi River. The project is still in the planning stage.
The MLAs thanked the Chief Minister for the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP), which has successfully prevented floods. They support the government’s efforts to strengthen the Musi River and requested 10,000 double bedroom houses for the poor living in distressing conditions along the river.
The Municipal Administration Minister praised the MLAs for their proposal, which aligns with the government’s vision to prevent floods in Hyderabad. He confirmed that the government will relocate the poor people living by the river and provide them with double bedroom houses. This will alleviate their poverty and remove unauthorized constructions that block flood prevention plans. It will also reduce the risk of flooding in areas alongside the river. The government has already completed preliminary plans for the Musi project.
The Minister also mentioned that works related to SNDP Phase-II will be approved soon. The distribution of double bedroom houses will begin next week at the locations where they are built.
