The Telangana government has introduced amendments to the Telangana Regularization of Unapproved and Illegal Layout Rules, 2020, simplifying the regularization process and encouraging compliance. As part of the new amendments, the government has announced a 25% rebate on regularization and pro-rata open space charges for applicants who make payments on or before March 31, 2025.

    Key Amendments in LRS Rules

    • No Registration Without Regularization – Unauthorized layouts will not be granted registration or building permissions unless they are regularized.

    • Definition of Layout Owner – A layout owner is now officially defined as someone who has developed the layout and sold at least 10% of the plots before August 26, 2020.

    • Eligibility for Registration – Unregistered plots in unauthorized layouts, where at least 10% of plots were sold before August 26, 2020, will now be eligible for registration upon payment of regularization and pro-rata charges.

    Objective of the Amendments

The government aims to address procedural challenges and make regularization easier for property owners. By offering a 25% rebate, authorities seek to encourage faster compliance and ensure that more unauthorized layouts come under legal purview.

For those looking to regularize their properties, officials have urged early payment before the March 31, 2025, deadline to take advantage of the reduced charges.
