The Telangana government has explained the objections raised by Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan regarding the TSRTC merger bill. They have sent a copy of the explanation to Raj Bhavan. The government clarified that RTC workers will receive better salaries under the government and all relevant aspects will be included in the guidelines after the merger. Issues related to the central government’s share and the 9th schedule will be resolved similarly to Andhra Pradesh.
During a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister KCR, it was decided to merge RTC workers in Telangana with the state government. The government has drafted the RTC bill accordingly and aims to pass it during the ongoing assembly sessions. However, objections raised by Raj Bhavan have delayed its introduction in the House as it requires the governor’s consent as a money bill.
In response to these developments, RTC workers have protested against the governor’s behavior, leading to a two-hour bus stoppage on Saturday morning. Dharnas have been organized in front of depots and there has been a siege of the Governor’s bungalow by RTC workers and staff. This has created tension at Raj Bhavan.
In light of these protests, the government has provided an explanation to address the governor’s objections.
