The district-level CM Cup games began on Tuesday at the Government Boys’ College sports ground in Wanaparthy district and will be held from December 17 to December 21. Reddy, along with Additional Collector Local Bodies Sanchit Gangwar, encouraged players who performed well in village and mandal-level competitions to showcase their full potential at the district level.

“This is a golden opportunity for players to demonstrate their abilities,” Reddy said. He explained that exceptional performers in the CM Cup would receive advanced training at the state’s sports academy, with the goal of turning them into international athletes. He advised players to remain persistent, not to be discouraged by losses, and to stay motivated for upcoming competitions. Reddy also highlighted the achievements of athletes like Deepti and Nikhat Zarina, who excelled in recent Olympic Games.

He emphasized that the Chief Minister is deeply invested in advancing sports in Telangana and cultivating international-level players and coaches.

Additional Collector Sanchit Gangwar congratulated players who excelled in earlier stages of the CM Cup and encouraged them to keep striving for success at the district and state levels. He noted that their achievements could bring recognition to the Wanaparthy district. Gangwar also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing necessary facilities for students, including increased mess charges to support their needs.

Several officials, including District Youth Sports Officer Sudheer Reddy, Wanaparthy Market Committee Chairman B. Srinivas Goud, SGF Secretary Surender Reddy, and local councilor Brahmam, were present at the event. They praised the athletes for their dedication and efforts.

Before the competitions began, Reddy and Gangwar hoisted the CM Cup flag and the Wanaparthy district flag. They also led the players in taking a sports pledge. The opening games featured events in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Taekwondo, sparking excitement and competitive spirit among the participants.
