    Sports infrastructure in Telangana is getting a boost from Khelo India, a program aimed at promoting sports culture in urban and rural areas. The program has disbursed Rs 30.70 crore of the Rs 37.77 crore financial commitment, with a Centre of Excellence and 24 state sports centers sanctioned in Telangana.

    The State Khelo India centers are located in various districts, including Ranga Reddy, Vikarabad, and Kamareddy, among others. Four more Khelo India centers are located in Secundrabad to provide sporting activities for youth in rural areas.

    Additionally, 12 sports academies have been accredited under the program to encourage sports activities. Currently, 50 Telangana athletes are undergoing training in various sports streams to compete at the national and international level.

    To promote sporting activities in higher educational institutions, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 14 crore to the Osmania University campus for sporting amenities, a synthetic track and tennis court, and a women’s swimming pool.
