The Congress-led government in Telangana, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has had a transformative first year. With a focus on development and social justice, the administration has introduced ground-breaking initiatives aimed at reshaping the state for future generations. From historic farm loan waivers to innovative welfare programs, the government has achieved several milestones.
One of the biggest accomplishments is the implementation of the highest farm loan waiver in the history of Independent India, bringing relief to countless farmers. Additionally, the government announced the highest-ever allocation of government jobs, aiming to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods across the state.
Agriculture has been a top priority for the administration. Farmers have been supported with the highest bonus for fine rice, leading to record paddy production since 1947. Efforts to protect natural resources have also been made, with the government halting lake encroachments after decades of neglect. The polluted Musi River is undergoing a major rejuvenation project to ensure clean water for Hyderabad’s residents.
Hyderabad has become the first city in India to undergo a complete structural overhaul to address climate change challenges. This initiative is designed to ensure sustainable growth for the next 50 years. The city is also home to India’s first industry-led skill university and South India’s largest sports university, strengthening its position as a hub for innovation and education.
The government has introduced several schemes to support women, helping them save nearly ₹10,000 per month. Free bus transportation, subsidies for cooking gas, and free electricity for households consuming below 200 units are among the initiatives. Farmers, too, have benefited from 24×7 free electricity, which has boosted agricultural productivity.
In a push for greener transportation, Hyderabad is replacing all petrol and diesel buses with over 3,000 electric buses. The city is also constructing the world’s largest Gandhi statue at Bapu Ghat and developing a 200-acre Gandhian pilgrimage site, blending sustainability with cultural heritage.
Drinking water accessibility has significantly improved, with Hyderabad now sourcing water from the Godavari River to meet the city’s growing demands. The government is also finalizing master plans for future-ready urban spaces, ensuring smart and modern urban development.
Education has seen a renewed focus, with increased budgets for food and well-being in residential schools. The government is working to create world-class facilities for Dalit, tribal, OBC, and minority students. A caste survey has also been launched to ensure fair policy-making and resource distribution.
To improve transparency, the controversial Dharani portal has been handed over to the National Informatics Centre for a complete overhaul. Public access to government officials has been restored, along with media freedom, ending years of censorship.
Telangana has attracted record investments in the past year, including foreign and domestic funding. Major infrastructure projects, such as the Regional Ring Road and Ring Rail, are underway, along with metro rail expansion, contributing to the state’s economic growth.
Warangal has been designated as Telangana’s second capital and will receive significant development projects. The state’s housing initiative, Indiramma Illu, has already sanctioned 400,000 houses in its first year. A universal healthcare scheme, Rajiv Aarogyashri, has also been launched, offering ₹10 lakh coverage per person.
The government has prioritized citizen engagement by addressing over half a million public grievances through the Praja Vani platform. Salaries and pensions for government employees are now being paid on time, ensuring payroll consistency.
In a nod to cultural pride, the administration plans to unveil a Telangana Talli statue and introduce a new state anthem. Meanwhile, CM Revanth Reddy has been working tirelessly, dedicating 18 hours a day to governance and gathering public feedback to improve policies.
Despite inheriting financial challenges, including over ₹7 lakh crore in loans from the previous administration, the Congress government has laid the foundation for a brighter future. With innovative policies and a focus on progress, Telangana is on a path to becoming a model “Future State.”
