The Assembly election in Telangana started on Thursday with tight security arrangements. Voting will continue until 5 pm. Voters are slowly lining up at polling stations to cast their votes.
Mock polls were conducted at all polling stations at 5:30 am, and actual voting began at 7 am.
A total of 35,655 polling stations have been prepared for the elections in 119 assembly constituencies. Section 144 of Cr PC has been enforced, which restricts the gathering of four or more people. There are a total of 72,931 ballot units or EVMs, with 59,779 deployed at polling stations and the rest kept in reserve.
Webcasting has been arranged at 27,094 polling stations, and special arrangements have been made for persons with disabilities (PwD), including 21,686 wheelchairs. For visually challenged individuals, 76,532 voter slips and 40,000 dummy ballot papers in Braille have been printed. Transportation arrangements have also been made for senior citizens above 80 years old and PwD voters. To increase the polling percentage, 644 model polling stations have been set up, including 120 for PwD voters and 597 women-managed polling stations. The counting of votes will take place on December 3.
