    Telangana CM Urges Quick Grain Procurement to Support Farmers

    Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed district collectors and officials to speed up the grain procurement process to ensure farmers do not face any difficulties. Speaking through a video conference from Delhi, he was joined by Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of completing grain procurement on time and warned against fraudulent practices by millers.

    Efficient Procurement and Farmer Payments

    The Chief Minister instructed officials to separate fine and coarse rice varieties during procurement. He also emphasized that farmers should receive payments immediately after selling their produce at procurement centers. A special government bonus of ₹500 per quintal for fine rice varieties has been well-received by farmers.

    Assurance of Market Stability

    To protect farmers from fluctuating market prices, the Chief Minister assured that crops would be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) if market rates fall below it. He urged officials to instill confidence among farmers by ensuring fair pricing for their produce.

    Paddy Harvest and Procurement Updates

    This season, paddy was cultivated across 66 lakh acres in Telangana, but harvesting is still pending for 20 lakh acres. The Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure the smooth and timely completion of grain procurement across the state.

    Preventing Illegal Grain Imports

    Revanth Reddy expressed concern about illegal grain imports from neighboring states, which have increased due to Telangana’s bonus for fine rice varieties. He instructed officials to remain vigilant and take strict action to prevent such malpractices.

    Field Monitoring and Accountability

    To oversee grain procurement activities, the Chief Minister asked in-charge ministers and district officials to conduct field visits. He also directed them to submit daily progress reports to ensure transparency and accountability in the process.

    Grand Farmer Festival in Mahabubnagar

    The Chief Minister announced a three-day farmer festival in Mahabubnagar starting on November 28. This event will include an agricultural exhibition showcasing advanced farming techniques, mechanization, and interactive sessions with successful farmers. The festival aims to educate and inspire farmers while celebrating their contributions to Telangana’s agricultural sector.

    Participation in the Video Conference

    The video conference included participation from ministers Thummala Nageshwar Rao, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Konda Surekha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Jupally Krishna Rao, along with Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and district collectors. The collaboration among these officials is expected to strengthen agricultural policies and provide better support for farmers.

    “Our government is committed to addressing the challenges faced by farmers. By ensuring swift grain procurement, immediate payments, and strict measures against malpractice, we aim to create a supportive ecosystem for them,” CM Revanth Reddy said during the conference.
