Telangana Secures Major Deal with Unilever at World Economic Forum

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Telangana delegation achieved a major milestone at the World Economic Forum in Davos. They finalized a strategic agreement with Unilever, a global leader in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). As part of the deal, Unilever will establish two significant facilities in Telangana—a palm oil production unit in Kamareddy district and a bottle cap manufacturing unit at another location in the state.

The agreement came after discussions between CM Revanth Reddy, Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, and Unilever executives, including CEO Hein Schumacher and Chief Supply Chain Officer Willem Uijen. This collaboration is seen as a step forward in boosting industrial development in the region.

Speaking about the partnership, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted Telangana’s strategic advantages. He described the state as a gateway to southern India with access to a large market. He also emphasized Telangana’s business-friendly policies and its potential to become a hub for industrial growth.

“Although Unilever has several centers across India, Telangana has remained untapped despite its vast consumer market and favorable policies. This partnership opens a new chapter for industrial expansion in the state,” the Chief Minister said.

Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher announced the company’s plans to set up a palm oil production and refining facility in Kamareddy district. Additionally, Unilever will establish a bottle cap manufacturing unit, which will reduce the company’s reliance on imports for these components.

The Chief Minister assured Unilever of full support from the state government. This includes assistance with land allocation for the palm oil production unit in Kamareddy. He underlined Telangana’s commitment to fostering industrial growth and supporting Unilever’s expansion plans.

This partnership is expected to greatly benefit Telangana’s industrial landscape. It will also help Unilever streamline its supply chain and reduce dependency on external sources. With this collaboration, Telangana continues to attract global investments, further solidifying its position as a top destination for industry and innovation.
