Telangana CM Warns Against Online Betting

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued a strict warning against online betting platforms. He stated that the government will take strong action against those who operate or promote such activities. To tackle this issue, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with full authority will be set up.

During a budget discussion in the Legislative Assembly, the chief minister emphasized that the government is determined to act against online betting, gaming, and rummy platforms. He pointed out that many people are becoming victims of these apps.

    Need for Stronger Measures

Revanth Reddy explained that simply questioning those who promote these platforms will not solve the problem. He stressed that operators from other states and even foreign countries must also be targeted. Although a law was introduced in 2017 to ban such activities, weak enforcement has led to an increase in misuse.

The chief minister also highlighted that several national and international groups, including criminals, are involved in online betting. He said that the current legal system does not have strict punishments for those running these platforms and called for stronger penalties.

Additionally, he made it clear that Telangana will not tolerate any kind of addiction, including online betting, ganja, cocaine, and cockfighting.

Land Allocation and Future City Plans

Speaking about land allocation in Gachibowli, the chief minister clarified that the disputed land does not belong to the Central University. He explained that in 2006, the land was given to a fake company called IMG Bharat, but the Congress government later canceled this allotment. The case had been in court for nearly 25 years.

After coming to power, Revanth Reddy said his government fought the case in the Supreme Court and successfully reclaimed the land. Now, the government has handed it over to TSIIC for structured development. He assured that the land would be used for IT companies and industries, not for polluting industries.

    Commitment to Sustainable Development

The chief minister stated that Telangana aims to create a Net Zero City instead of allowing polluting industries. He also promised compensation for families who lose land due to industrial projects, ensuring they get employment opportunities.

“It is the government's responsibility to support those who lose their land. We must provide jobs and employment for these families,” he concluded.
