Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to finalize the state’s Sports Policy by the end of November. This policy aims to help the youth of Telangana succeed in national and international sports competitions.
During a high-level meeting, CM Reddy stressed the importance of creating a bill to establish the Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU). He asked that the bill be prepared quickly and that a governing body for the university should be set up within the next ten days.
To develop a strong sports strategy, the Chief Minister suggested studying the successful models of South Korea’s Sports University and Queensland University in Australia. He also recommended seeking advice from sports experts and athletes.
CM Reddy proposed creating a schedule for state, national, and international sports competitions. He also directed officials to work with the Indian Olympic Association to bring the National Games to Telangana within the next two years.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with other key officials such as Advisor K. Keshava Rao, Sports Advisor A.P. Jitender Reddy, and Sports Authority Chairman Sivasena Reddy. Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and Sports Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan were also present, showing the government’s strong commitment to improving sports infrastructure in the state.
