Telangana Cabinet makes decisions on the 2024 budget session of the Telangana Assembly

The Telangana Cabinet has made some important decisions regarding the budget session. The session is set to begin on February 8 and will include the announcement of two more election promises by the ruling Congress party. The Assembly session will commence with a speech by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. The Cabinet also made changes to the state’s official symbol to reflect the demands of the Telangana agitation, removing any trace of monarchy.

During a Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the official song “Jaya Jaya He Telangana” by poet Ande Sri was chosen. The Cabinet also decided to use “TG” instead of “TS” on vehicle license plates to represent the state’s name. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will announce the implementation of two more guarantees during the Assembly session.

The Congress party had previously made six guarantees for the election, and two of them have already been put into effect. These include free rides for women on state-run RTC buses and a health scheme providing 10 lakh rupees to poor individuals. The Cabinet also agreed to conduct a caste census in the state, as previously announced.

In addition, the Cabinet has decided to bring back the Nizam Sugars Factory, which is government-run, and establish the Kodangal Area Development Authority, named after the Assembly constituency represented by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
