Hyderabad: Telangana’s cabinet expansion is expected to take place soon, likely after the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, which are scheduled for November 23.
The decision to expand the cabinet has been pending for several months. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has reportedly been discussing the matter with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leadership in Delhi, but no final decision was made until recently.
Sources suggest that the party high command has now reached a conclusion after much deliberation. The current cabinet, which consists of 11 members including the Chief Minister, is likely to be expanded to 17 members. The new appointments will focus on including representatives from underrepresented areas such as Adilabad, Nizamabad, Ranga Reddy, and Hyderabad districts.
The proposed expansion aims to ensure better socio-political balance in the cabinet. Some of the key contenders for ministerial positions include Vivek Venkatswamy, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Malreddy Rangareddy, Sudarshan Reddy, V. Srihari, Danam Nagender, Balu Naik, and Amer Ali Khan. It is believed that adding these new members will improve the efficiency of the administration, as several important portfolios are currently handled by the Chief Minister himself.
