The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has announced its candidates for the upcoming elections to two graduate MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats in Andhra Pradesh.
Alapati Rajendra Prasad has been selected as the candidate for the Krishna-Guntur constituency. Meanwhile, Perabathula Rajasekhar will contest in the East and West Godavari constituencies. The announcement was made by TDP state president Palla Srinivas on Sunday.
Both Rajendra Prasad and Rajasekhar had previously hoped to run in the 2019 Assembly elections. Rajendra Prasad aimed for the Tenali seat, while Rajasekhar had his sights set on the Kakinada Rural seat. However, those constituencies were given to the Jana Sena Party as part of an alliance, so both leaders stepped aside to maintain party unity.
In recognition of their loyalty and contributions to the party, the TDP leadership has now chosen them to run as MLC candidates. The upcoming election will be important for TDP as it seeks to strengthen its presence in Andhra Pradesh.
