The appointment of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has caused confusion within the state unit. Reddy has chosen not to comment on his appointment and has returned to New Delhi, isolating himself. He did not attend the cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is held every Wednesday.

Reddy’s house on Ashoka Road is inaccessible to everyone, including visitors. He is not taking phone calls and has turned off his mobile phone. There are rumors that he has resigned from the council of ministers, but no official announcement has been made. Some say he informed the cabinet secretary that he was unwell and couldn’t attend the meeting, but this has not been confirmed.

Officials have also not met with or briefed him. Sources within the BJP claim that Reddy is unhappy with being made the TBJP president. He believes that the political situation in the state is not favorable for the BJP and is unwilling to lead a failing party.

According to the Hyderabad bureau, important leaders like Chandrasekhar Vijayarama Rao and some close to Eatala Rajender are in contact with the Congress party.
