    Hyderabad: In an important operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, along with Chandrayangutta Police, arrested a gang of ten people who were involved in the illegal sale of a 15-day-old baby boy.

    The gang was led by a local man named Mehdi Ali, also known as Saleem. The police acted on reliable information and managed to rescue the baby. The rescued child has been placed in the care of the Child Welfare Center to ensure his safety and proper care.

    The arrested individuals are as follows:

    1. Shaik Ismail, from 9 Number Pahadi, Attapur, RR District
    2. Sulthana Begum, from 9 Number Pahadi, Attapur, RR District
    3. Mehdi Ali @ Saleem, from Vattepally, Falaknuma, Hyderabad
    4. Fathima Rehamth, from Bishmillah Colony, Suleman Nagar, RR District
    5. Syed Imtiaz Pasha, from Bishmillah Colony, Suleman Nagar, RR District
    6. Nazma Begum, from Jalal Baba Dargah, 9 Number Pahadi, Attapur, RR District
    7. Feroz Khan, from Jalal Baba Dargah, 9 Number Pahadi, Attapur, RR District
    8. Sayeeda Shaik, from 9 Number Pahadi, Attapur, RR District (acted as a mediator)
    9. Nafeez Begum, from Ali Nagar, Kishanbagh, Hyderabad
    10. Sayeeda Begu, from Fathima Nagar, Vattapally, Falaknuma, Hyderabad

    The investigation revealed that Mehdi Ali had come up with a plan to take advantage of parents who were desperate for children. He convinced them to sell their newborns for a large sum of money. In this case, the parents were offered Rs. 2,50,000 for their baby. Mehdi Ali then worked with several brokers to find buyers and shared the baby’s pictures through WhatsApp.

    After the operation, the arrested people and the rescued baby were handed over to the Chandrayangutta Police Station for further legal action. A case has been registered under Cr. No. 324/2024, under Sections 80 and 81 of the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, 2015. The investigation is still ongoing.

    This successful operation was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sri Ande Srinivasa Rao, with help from Inspector Sri S. Raghavendra, SHO Sri K. Guru Nath, and the South Zone Task Force team. Their efforts reflect their dedication to fighting such serious crimes in the city.

    The authorities acted quickly, not only stopping the traffickers but also ensuring the safety of a vulnerable baby.
