Malakpet Reservoir | Second Pump Trial Run Successful
Kaleshwaram project's Package-9 witnessed a successful trial run at the Malakpet Reservoir. One pump had already been tested and now the second pump has also completed its trial run from 12:40 pm to 1:40 pm on Sunday. This is the second trial run conducted, following the first one on the 23rd. Both pumps have been successful, as stated by Minister KTR and District Collector Harsham.
With an estimated cost of 1,500 crores, the construction work for the tunnel project has begun to meet the demand for water in the surrounding areas. However, the farmers are still not satisfied with the government's efforts. After the state formation, Minister KTR promised to provide water from the Godavari river through the Kaleshwaram project. The 9th package of the project aims to provide water to Singasamudram Cheruvu in Narma Mallegudem Mandal, near Godavari river, with the help of gravity. They have constructed underground tunnels for a distance of 12.3 km from Rampapagutta to Malkapet.
The construction work for three reservoirs in Malakpet has cost around 500 crores. Two electric motors with a capacity of 30 MW each have been installed to lift water from Sarjipool to fulfill the required 1100 cusecs of water. One motor has already started lifting 550 cusecs of water. They have also constructed six bunds covering a distance of 5 km, with each bund having a kilometer of length. In order to lift water from Sarjipool, they have established a separate 33/11 KV electrical substation with a capacity of 90 MW.
The successful trial run of the Malakpet Reservoir has brought hope among the people in the surrounding areas. The Minister, Ramanna, has assured that he will fulfill their aspirations. Upon completion of this project, around one lakh acres of land will receive water. The construction work for the canals from Malkapet Reservoir to Singasamudram Cheruvu in Bhattal Cheruvu, Gambhiravupeta Mandal, is in progress. The construction work for these canals will help in supplying water to the fields.
In Sirisilla district, a total of 64,470 acres, in Vemulawada district, 31,680 acres of land have received water. In Sirisilla Mandal, 8,750 acres, in Ellareddipeta Mandal, 29,875 acres, in Gambhiravupeta Mandal, 9,279 acres, in Mustabad Mandal, 9,599 acres, in Vemulavada Urban Mandal, 7,805 acres, in Vemulavada Rural Mandal, 1,000 acres, in Konaraopet Mandal, 22,875 acres, and in Veernapalli Mandal, 6,967 acres of land have received water. Out of these, 60 acres are newly irrigated land and 26,150 acres are under stabilization.
Journalists across the state are given government-owned spaces.
In a meeting with journalists in Warangal, Minister K Taraka Ramarao clarified that the Municipal Department should form a committee under the leadership of Media Academy Chairman to address the concerns of journalists.
Kasibugga, June 17: Minister K Taraka Ramarao, who visited the Warangal district on Saturday, met with 143 leaders of the localities and journalists and listened to their issues. He clarified that the Municipal Department had already allocated land for the journalists' housing societies in two locations in the Warangal district and if they provide the account number for land registration, they will release funds for the same. The 143 leaders of the housing societies in Warangal have brought the issue of inaccessible land to the attention of Minister KTR. Chairman of the Media Academy, Allam Narayana, has informed that if the final list is made, he will also include the journalists' localities in it and present it to the collectors who are available there. He also mentioned that he has spoken to Allam Narayana about talking to journalists about their issues regarding inaccessible land.
The Telangana Union of Working Journalists, represented by its Chief Executive Officer Askanai Maruthi Sagar and State Vice President Vishnuvardhan Reddy, met with the Minister during the meeting.
