Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy congratulated the Syrian football team for winning the 4th edition of the Intercontinental Cup 2024. The tournament’s final match was held at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, where Syria defeated India to claim the championship. During the closing ceremony, the Chief Minister presented the “Intercontinental Cup-2024” trophy to the victorious Syrian team.
The tournament, which featured three nations and used a round-robin format, started on the 3rd of this month. Chief Minister Reddy, who had inaugurated the tournament, attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest. He praised both the winning team and the organizers for making the event a success.
The Chief Minister also thanked the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for choosing Hyderabad as the host city. He emphasized his government’s dedication to making Hyderabad the sporting capital of India.
Reddy further acknowledged the efforts of key officials, including Sports Advisor AP Jitender Reddy and Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Sivasena Reddy, for ensuring the smooth organization of the event. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including MPs Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav, AIFF Vice President NA Haris, and Secretary General Anil Kumar.
