    Mahabubnagar: The Department of Psychiatry at SVS Medical College in Mahabubnagar organized a series of events to raise awareness about mental health. These events were part of the World Mental Health Week, celebrated from October 4 to 10.

    Dr. K. Ashok Reddy, the Head of the Department of Psychiatry, led the initiative. The main focus was on the importance of recognizing and addressing mental illness. Dr. Reddy explained that mental health plays a vital role in a person’s overall well-being. He stressed that in today’s fast-paced work environment, stress, anxiety, and burnout are common problems that need attention.

    Dr. Reddy emphasized the importance of creating workplaces that support mental wellness. He suggested that companies should offer mental health days, counselling services, and stress management workshops to help employees stay productive and satisfied with their jobs.

    One of the key highlights of the event was a skit performed by undergraduate students. The skit focused on the issue of alcohol addiction and its negative effects on mental health and relationships. The performance encouraged people to talk openly about these challenges and seek help when needed.

    The event ended with an interactive session. Participants discussed how to recognize warning signs of mental distress, provide support to those in need, and make mental health care more accessible.
