In Suryapet, Congress and BSP councillors are teaming up with BRS dissident councillors to move a no-confidence motion against their own party chairman and vice-chairman of the Suryapet municipality. In order to move the motion, 24 out of the 48 councilors need to submit a letter to the District Collector. Once the signatures are verified, the Collector will call for a council meeting. If two-thirds of the 48 councilors (33 in total) raise their hands in support of the motion on Election Day, the incumbents will lose the trust vote.

It is uncertain how former minister Jagadish Reddy, who appointed a Dalit woman as chairman, will handle the no-confidence motion. More than 30 councilors are supporting the no-confidence motion and have left for cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Along with the BRS councillors, Congress and BSP councilors have also joined them. If a total of 33 councilors vote in favor of the motion, a new chairman will need to be elected by the council.
