NEW DELHI: Manda Krishna Madiga, the founder president of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), announced a significant victory for their 30-year struggle.
In 2004, Krishna Madiga had stated that justice would prevail and emphasized that injustice is only temporary. Recently, the Supreme Court confirmed that the power to classify lies with the states. The decision was made by a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, with a 6:1 verdict on SC classification.
Speaking to the media in Delhi, Krishna Madiga highlighted the long battle they have fought for 30 years, during which many people lost their lives. He criticized the numerous conspiracies aimed at undermining their movement but credited their perseverance and determination for their success.
Krishna Madiga recalled that the classification movement began in 1994 in Edumudi, Prakasam district, to address the injustices faced by their community. He dedicated this victory to all those who supported MRPS in their quest for justice.
He also mentioned the need to correct job recruitment notifications and stated that classification should not be based on population figures. He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative and thanked the judges who delivered the favorable verdict.
Krishna Madiga recalled his statement from November 5, 2004, that justice would eventually triumph. He also announced plans to hold a victory celebration soon to thank all supporters.
