Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary Indian cricketer, thinks that Gujarat Titans are the favourites to win the IPL 2023, but he wants Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to win the trophy for the fifth time because of their captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This will be Gujarat’s second consecutive IPL final, while it will be CSK’s tenth final with Dhoni as their captain. Both teams played the IPL 2023 opener at the same venue where they will play the final.

Gavaskar said that while Gujarat Titans have a great opener in Shubman Gill and captain Hardik Pandya, Dhoni’s cool and calm decision-making could make a difference in the final. He added that if CSK wins the title, they will be on par with Mumbai Indians, who have won five IPL titles under Rohit Sharma. If Gujarat Titans manages to beat CSK, they will join Kolkata Knight Riders with two IPL titles.

In the Qualifier 1 match, CSK took revenge on Gujarat Titans to reach the final directly. Gavaskar said that Chennai Super Kings are his second favourite team after Mumbai Indians, and he would love to see them win because of Dhoni. On this day in 2011, Chennai Super Kings became the first IPL team to defend their title by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 58 runs in the final.
