Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government has made a plan to ensure that all rural areas have enough drinking water during the summer.

Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka has asked engineers working under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme to visit the field four days a week. They should check the water supply in every household across the state.

The Minister also said that special committees will be formed in each mandal with local Panchayat officials. These committees will regularly monitor the drinking water situation. She added that arrangements will be made to meet water needs during the upcoming festival and marriage season in April.

Extra funds will be given for emergency water needs. Officials have been told to fix any damaged water pipes under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. The Minister also advised District Collectors and work inspectors to work together to avoid damage to water pipes caused by road projects in the villages.

If there are any water supply issues, backup plans should be ready, Seethakka said. She also pointed out that many bore wells have not been maintained in the past ten years. These bore wells should now be repaired and made ready to supply drinking water.

Finally, she urged officials to make sure there is enough drinking water for everyone and requested that villagers not dig new bore wells unless absolutely necessary.
