    State government introduces a nutritious diet plan for welfare hostel students

    Wanaparthy District:
    As part of the state government’s initiative for senior female IAS officers to stay in girls’ hostels, Sheikh Yasmin Basha, Director of the Minority Welfare Department and special officer for Wanaparthy district, visited the Tribal Welfare Girls’ Hostel on Wednesday. She stayed overnight at the hostel in the district headquarters. On Thursday morning, she joined the students for a prayer program. Later, local legislators, including Thudi Mega Reddy, joined the students for breakfast at the school.

    During her visit, Sheikh Yasmin Basha emphasized the government’s commitment to improving conditions for students in government welfare hostels. She explained that senior women IAS officers are being sent to girls’ hostels to understand the challenges faced by the students and assess how effectively the common diet menu is being implemented.

    She highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance facilities in these hostels, such as increasing mess charges by 40% and cosmetic allowances by nearly 200%. Yasmin Basha noted that the school and hostel in Wanaparthy are well-maintained, and she assured the staff that any issues they raised would be forwarded to the government for resolution.

    Later, Sheikh Yasmin Basha conducted a surprise inspection of the Telangana Government Minority Residential College located in KDR Nagar. She instructed the staff to regularly inspect the college kitchen and ensure it remains clean. Additionally, she reviewed stock registers for cooking utensils and interacted with the students to understand their concerns. She advised the staff to serve quality food to the students and carefully follow the menu guidelines.

    The visit also included participation from key officials, such as Tribal Welfare Department Officer Beeram Subbareddy, Minority Welfare Department Officer Afzaluddin, Minority College Principal Havila Rani, Horticulture Department officials, and Tribal Welfare School Principal Saraswati. Their involvement underscored the collaborative efforts to improve welfare facilities for students.
