    Hyderabad: Former MLC and State BJP membership in-charge, N Ramachander Rao, announced that the BJP’s membership drive in Telangana has reached 24 lakh sign-ups since it began on September 2.

    Due to ongoing by-elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, the membership drive, called the ‘Abhiyaan’ programme, has been extended until October 30. The registration process in Telangana has been in full swing for the past few days. On Monday alone, 1.3 lakh new members were registered. On September 25, the day of Deendayal Upadhyay Jayanti, 1.35 lakh people joined the party.

    Rao shared that, on average, about 45,000 memberships are being completed each day. The party is optimistic about reaching its enrolment target by October 30.

    He encouraged people to join the BJP by giving a missed call, visiting the provided link, entering a referral code, and verifying their phone number and personal details. As of Monday, four lakh people have registered through missed calls, while 20 lakh have joined online, bringing the total number of registered members in Telangana to 24 lakh.

    Rao also explained that only members who enroll more than 100 individuals will be eligible to become active members of the party. As of October 17, around 9,000 people have become active members. The BJP aims to have 40,000 active members in Telangana, with these active members eligible for organisational roles in booth committees.

    He further mentioned that MP and OBC Morcha president, Dr. K Lakshman, has been appointed as the returning officer at the national level for the Sangathan Parv. In Telangana, former MLA and State vice-president Y Lakshminarayana, Karunakar, and former Mahila Morcha president Geetamurty have been appointed as co-returning officers.

    Under the leadership of the BJP ST Morcha, nearly 1,000 camps have been held, enrolling 50,000 new members. Additionally, more than 500 camps are being organised by the Mahila Morcha, Yuvajana Morcha, OBC Morcha, Minority Morcha, and Kisan Morcha to increase membership in different areas. Rao pointed out that many youth, women, farmers, and individuals from various backgrounds are joining the party. The BJP is also conducting membership drives in agency areas and receiving a positive response from the people.

    Rao noted that no party in the State has ever had more than 30 lakh members, and the BJP is the first to achieve this milestone. Party leaders are visiting every village and household to encourage people from all communities to join the party.
